Experience Taylor’s playful Christmas Overture, the sublime Ave Maria by Mascagni, and Anderson’s exuberant Sleigh Ride. On Oct. 13, the Pittsburgh East community will celebrate its 42nd year of walking to end hunger one step at a time. The oldest walk in the country is sponsored by Church World Service (www.churchworldservice.org). 25% of what we raise is returned as grants to East End Common Ministries and Wilkinsburg Community Ministry. Youth and adults from this congregation will gather at the South Avenue United Methodist Church at 1:00 to gather in prepara-tion for the 10K loop through Squirrel Hill and back. The walk distance is 6.2 miles. Walking time is approximately 2.5 hours.

In the optional designation section, please indicate “BackPack Project” Voces Solis presents the 9th annual "Summer Singers" in concert on Saturday, August 17 at 7:00PM in the (newly air-conditioned!) FPCE Sanctuary. With over 70 members this year, the group will present a wide range of high-quality choral selections - a cappella as well as with piano and with organ - including pieces by Dan Forrest, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Arvo Part, James MacMillan, and more. Suggested donation: $10 at the door. Over the past 8 years, the Summer Singers have performed mostly in the Mt. Lebanon, Carnegie, and Coraopolis areas, so we're pleased to welcome them to the east end of the city with this concert.
Voces Solis, a premier chamber choir, performs a diverse repertoire of challenging and innovative choral works. Composed of professional musicians, music educators, and experienced choristers, they are committed to providing an educational experience for their members and audiences alike. Summer Singers is an annual outreach program organized by Voces Solis to bring busy musicians together during a time when schedules are more relaxed, offering a chance to perform quality music together. We hope you'll join us as we host this concert of beautiful choral music! Our next free community meal is this week, and we have our own take on an Oktoberfest menu! ![]() It’s that time of year again when we are looking for FPCE people to volunteer to run a game booth (usually the duck/crocodile pond) at Community Day, Saturday, August 24. Starting at Noon, the booth will be set up, sign hung, etc. by Judy and Mariah Mysels, but will need helpers to “man” the booth from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5PM.
