![]() Hi all brothers, sisters and friends of FPCE, First of all – I wish all of you a meaningful, fun and safe 4th. On Sunday morning we will celebrate the meal of freedom that we Christians call the Lord’s Supper. The liturgy introducing the Lord’s Supper is different – and moving. Please come and share in the celebration that Jesus gave to us. The sermon is based on a story where Jesus is said to be amazed. The Bible tells us that Jesus in only amazed two times in his ministry….do any of you remember when those two times of amazement occurred? See you in church – 10:00 a.m.! Pastor Michael Hi all.
The proposal to renovate the church facility – what do you think? Since the session proposed the renovation months ago, there have been opportunities for discussion, questions, walk throughs and personal contact/conversation with elders, Tom Ochs and Pastor Michael. This coming Sunday, June 28, immediately following our 10:00 a.m. worship service, there will be a congregational conversation between elders and congregation on this specific topic. Session will tell you of two actions that came out of their June meeting. However, the major point of this meeting is to LISTEN TO YOU. Please, please plan to come to worship this Sunday and then stay afterward for this important conversation. Please come with your questions, encouragement, concerns, gratitude, fears and hopes – the elders and I very much want to hear from you. In Christ’s service, Michael Rucker, Pastor Good morning everyone. God opened a door for me in October 2012. Above that door a sign read “First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood.” I willingly entered and have not looked back. The staff of this congregation – Judy, Shaun, Sunny, Rob – incredibly talented and willing servants. The elders and deacons I have worked with are indisputably and fully dedicated to God – Father, Son, Holy Spirit – and to this congregation and the community. And I have never had as much fun and challenge preaching to and serving a congregation as this one. ALL TO SAY – this Sunday (32 + months after I walked through the doors of this church!) I will be installed as the full time Teaching Elder (Minister, Pastor, Reverend) of the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood. I will be humbled and honored by your presence. The Word will be preached, the gospel will be sung, the people will celebrate!
See you in church – AT 10:00 AM – Sunday!
Pastor Michael This is the morning we will install Pastor Michael as our full time pastor. A guest preacher, and two other pastoral friends of Pastor Michael will help lead the service. This service will be an upbeat and joyful time together. A luncheon provided by the Session and Staff will be held in the Gathering Place after the service. Please join us as we formally recognize the special relationship between pastor and congregation.
Greetings brothers, sisters and friends of FPCE…
The disciples waited – as they were told to. The Holy Spirit filled the room and their lives – as promised. PENTECOST! The birthday of the church. Come celebrate with us. See you in church. Pastor Michael ![]() Hello brothers and sisters and friends and neighbors of FPCE. Wow – what a morning – meaning: THIS IS THE DAY the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. And….what a morning tomorrow will be. Wonderful music from our Sanctuary Choir (and you.) A terrific story from Acts 8, including a Letter of Thanks from one of the main characters. And We will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism with Sophia Grace and her parents, Tyler and Stephanie McGuigan. We will celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. When you join us for worship you will help our morning become even more complete. See you in church! Pastor Michael ![]() Hi all, I am pretty sure that we have something in common – there are weeks that feel like you’ve been in the boxing ring with Rocky Marciano, Floyd Patterson, Mohammed Ali and Michael Tyson - all beatin’ up on you. (I think I covered most of our generations with the names of those boxers, tell me if I’m wrong.) I have great news – Sunday is coming. Sunday is not just about fulfilling an obligation and going to church. Sunday is about resurrection. Sunday is about being still and knowing that God is God and that all things, even the worst things, will work out. Sunday is about discovering the rich new life that is just beneath the surface of whatever it is we call “reality.” Sunday is about celebrating a kingdom come and a will being done on earth, in this life, as it is in heaven. Sunday is about a new you and me…and a new world. This Sunday one of our newest members will serve as liturgist. This Sunday the choir will sing out one of most loved songs. This Sunday we will read the story of what it means to show compassion where most people would show fear. This Sunday we will read about a person making a bold stand in the face of death. This Sunday will be enriched by you being with us. See you in church! Pastor Michael PS. As a reminder – we will have a long-awaited Q and A about a proposed building renovation. So worship with us at 11:00. Go to the lounge, grab a cup of coffee and one of Lorraine’s delicious treats and join us in the Gathering Place. I look forward to sharing the morning with you. Hi all, I write to you looking at a very drippy day…but the sunshine is comin’! And so is the shine of the son. The resurrection is not only something that happened to Jesus that radically changed his way of life. But the disciple changed their way of living too. Join us Sunday morning and find out how. More great songs….the same lovely congregation of the faithful – and maybe some new people too!
See you Sunday
Pastor Michael
